Administrators play a vital role in sport, particularly to reduce the potential for things to go wrong. Here, you can access resources to help you manage risks in your sport.
Coaches and officials are what make sport tick. They play a crucial role in helping keep sport safe, fair and inclusive. Here are a number of tools and resources to help you do just that.
If you are a player then you can make a huge contribution to making sport safe, fair and inclusive. Your behaviour influences others, not only your team mates, but everyone involved in sport.
As a parent you should be aware of your clubs responsibilities. At the same time you also have responsibilities and you can play a huge role in creating a safe environment for your child.
Positive changes are coming to the Play by the Rules eLearning courses. From Sunday 31 March, the two-year expiry date on courses will be removed, and the PBTR – Child Protection and Safeguarding course will no longer be available on the Sport Integrity Australia eLearning website.
The two-year expiry date on courses will be removed so that once you have completed a course, it will remain complete on your eLearning account permanently. This removes the need for eLearning users to repeat courses they’ve already completed and will lighten the load for volunteers and athletes.
To simplify eLearning for sports, participants and sport administrators the PBTR – Child Protection and Safeguarding course will be retired on 31 March, and users seeking to learn about child safeguarding can instead complete Sport Integrity Australia’s Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction course.
This newly re-launched course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and covers the basics of sports’ child safeguarding policies. Just like the previous PBTR course, it is suitable for participants across all Australian sports, and is also supported by an optional ‘Recruitment and Screening’ module for anyone responsible for recruiting or engaging staff, volunteers or contractors.
The existence of two child safeguarding eLearning courses has often caused confusion, and it is hoped this streamlined approach makes it simpler for volunteers and other sport participants. If you have any questions about Play by the Rules courses or any other eLearning available on the Sport Integrity Australia eLearning hub, please email [email protected].
Yes, all eLearning on Sport Integrity Australia’s eLearning hub will remain free for all users.
You can revisit the course any time to review the content. Some courses will allow you to re-take the test at the end, however the results will not affect your existing course completion status or date.
No, you will still be able to view your current and expired badges in the Sport Integrity Australia eLearning website (select ‘download certificate’ and then ‘view my badges’).
Any badge issued from April 1 will not expire, but any courses completed before that date will still have the two-year expiry.
Sports requiring child safeguarding education to be completed by their members can direct them to complete the Sport Integrity Australia Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction course instead.
