Governing Bodies


Introduction

Governments, governing bodies (including peak bodies and associations), sport and recreation clubs and groups, coaches and parents all have a responsibility for creating a fair and safe environment for those involved in sport, be they players, participants, paid staff or volunteers. A fair and safe environment protects children and young people as well as adults who behave appropriately and ethically.

As a governing body, you have the potential to guide the culture and practices of clubs and people involved in your sport.  In particular, you have the responsibility to provide leadership and to develop and require a commitment to policy and good practice.
