  • Make sure your sport has a Member Protection Policy that addresses intimate coach/athlete relationships.
  • Request that your club to develop or adopt other strategies to keep children safe such as:
    • police or working with children check for all adults
    • guidelines on maintaining appropriate boundaries, supervision for over night trips, being alone with children, transport of children.
  • Get involved with your child’s sport. Research has shown that children of parents actively involved in their sporting events are less likely to experience sexual abuse or harassment than those who are not.
  • Be aware of the warning signs for sexual abuse of children.
  • Contact your child protection agency if you have any concerns that your child or another child is at risk of harm.
